Butterfinger

Butterfinger

Layers of peanut brittle covered in chocolate advertised by 'The Simpsons' in America. FACT - The Chicago based company that invented this candy bar actually held a competition to name it. You learn something new everyday.

Butterfinger is a slang term used to describe a clumsy person, often in sporting events to describe someone who can't hold onto the ball. As an early publicity stunt and marketing ploy, Butterfingers and Baby Ruths candy bars were dropped from airplanes in cities across the United States which helped increase its popularity.

Kcal 270 Fat 11g Fat(sats) 6g Carbs 43g

Described as a centre of peanut butter crunch coated in thick chocolate - I greatily anticipated this bar.

A £1 import later from the US and today this became a reality. The bar in appearance is large, and that is confirmed by the 59g weighting. The texture of the bar was quite striking - the chocolate easily flaked off the harder center which itself had a more wafer like apperance and texture than I was expecting.

Tastewise I was in for a suprise aswell. The chocolate was completely insignificant and I cant actually recall the taste of it as it was completely lost in what Im about to describe. The center tasted nothing like I was expecting (a creamy smooth peanut buttery flavour!) in truth it tasted only slightly of peanutbutter but more of just plain sugar...there is obviously suposed to be a crunch to the peanut butter but to my tastebuds the only other flavour I could distinguish was pure sugar; chocolate coated sugar with a slight peanut butter undertone should be how this bar is described. To prove to you im not going completely barmy I urge you to take a look at the wrapper of a butterfinger; which on close inspectiong I found to have 43g worth of Carbs!!! 30g of which are nearly entirely sugar! Good luck to me getting any sleep tonight I think im going to be on a sugar rush for about a year!

I thought this bar was underwhelming to say the least - I cant quite understand why this bar comes with such a cult following of people who think its utterly brilliant.

Overall a real disappointment - but at least its another to strike off the import list. I dont expect I will be having this bar again in the near future; and despite what I was predicting this dosent trouble the top 5.
