3 Musketeers

3 Musketeers

Whipped chocolate center covered in a thin layer of chocolate. Just like a milkyway only bigger and nicer.

When introduced in 1932, 3 Musketeers had three pieces of candy in one package, flavored vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. In 1945, the product was changed to a single bar with chocolate nougat, and two shallow scores in its surface to let it be broken easily into three pieces. It was marketed as the candy bar that was so big it could be shared with two friends. CandyPirate do not recommend sharing this bar, its too nice!

Reviewer: James Edwards from Chocolate Mission   5 Stars

Taken from my website www.chocolatemission.blogspot.com .... check it out for more great reviews:

Kcal 260 Fat 8g Fat(sats) 5g Carbs 46g

This is a hugely popular in the States and came with quite the reputation, suffice to say I had been looking forward to reviewing it.

The standard bar weighs in 60.4g and I must say this is one bar that really does satisfy a rumbling stomach. The packaging claims that this bar contains 45% less fat than other comparative 60g bars; though this is true, and for its size alone the lack of fat is impressive you cant ignore the carbs! A whole 46g of which 40g sugars...that’s one big sugar hit! But as I always say on the Chocolate Mission this isn’t what counts and the taste is the most important factor.

In composition the bar is very similar to the Milky Way bar we have in the UK: Chocolate flavoured nougat covered in milk chocolate. I have complained about nougat bars being too stodgy and flavourless (see Reese's Fast Break) however this was not the case here. The nougat is more fluffy and light than anything I have come across so far - this means that it has a more melt on tongue texture which definitely helps the creamy chocolaty flavour come through more. The nougat flavour was delicious and although the 60g serving was more than sufficient I couldn’t help but want more. The chocolate coating did its job and considering that it was never going to be the best quality chocolate around it was really quite nice in comparison to other mass manufactured US bars.

Overall this is definitely the best bar I have had from the US. I honestly don’t think I could choose it over the Cadburys/Galaxy Caramel bars but it certainly comes close. I would really highly recommend this bar and I am really looking forward to reviewing the mint version of this bar which should be on its way too me in the very near future. I can't recommend this bar enough; if your importing chocolate from the US this should be top of your list.
